It is well documented maintaining a stable core temperature is extremely important in the recovery and wellbeing of the modern-day sport horse but does your saddle pad actively help or hinder this? 

Traditional saddle pads are typically made of polyester loose fill known as (polyfil) and or a combination of foams quilted between cotton or polyester fabrics. This has long been regarded as sufficiently effective for quilting and manufacturing of equestrian saddle pads, but not necessarily considered to be an effective material to have between the saddle and horse. Research has shown sweat, heat and moisture management are all inefficiently addressed with these materials. These manufacturing methods result in the following flaws in current products

TRADITIONAL SADDLE PAD DESIGN

1. MOSITURE ABSORBTION

When the horse sweats the moisture is absorbed into the quilting but isn’t dispelled because of the density of the filling. This is why in some products, sweat is heavily evident after exercise.

2. HEAT BUILD-UP 

Due to the density of the material the heat is collected, and it cannot escape. The heat is concentrated in the most vulnerable areas under the saddle and around the vital organs.

3. POOR SHOCK ABSORPTION

Again, due to the density of the materials which is compounded during quilting process the ability for absorbing and dispersing pressure is very primitive and ineffective.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

INNOVATION ISN'T ALWAYS COMPLICATED, ITS EVOLUTION

Our ethos is simple - the more air that can travel between saddle and horse, the better for comfort and performance. Our pads are based on a complex 4-layer composition focused on 3D mesh, quilted with a super soft 'Technoline active lining' against the skin. Its raised weave actively collects the sweat that comes off the coat whilst 360-degree ventilation through the mesh construction means that cool air can disperse the moisture, evaporating it the same as modern day sports textiles. The outer is a robust cotton blend with open cell technology to aid further transference of excess heat and or moisture. Furthermore, the construction of the 3D mesh is great for shock absorption, used worldwide for its ability to be compressed and recover, helping to reduce pressure.  

ADJUSTABLE D-RING FASTENING STRAPS

Another of our stand out signature features are the D-Ring fastenings. The strap passes through the D at the front of the saddle and the length can be adjusted to cater for different saddle shapes. The deliberate 15mm width allows for attachment of other clips to the saddle D-rings at the same time if required.

If desired, the fastening straps can then permanently and discreetly stay attached to the saddle for ease of use with future application of Evolution saddle pads. The innovative system locks the spine into the saddle gullet stopping any spreading of the pad, reducing pressure over the wither, whilst doing away with scruffy Velcro. 

GIRTH PROTECTION ZONE

The multi loop system allows for easy application and positioning of the saddle. Strong Barr tack stitching maximises durability whilst the heavy GSM Oxford polyester reinforces the girth protection area. The three loop girthing options allows for easy application for both mono and double flap designs whilst effectively stopping the saddle pads from slipping or rucking, improving comfort and performance.
